Ky BOM Peek

Leading up to Hawaii...

Beginning...
March 21, 2014

Sometime after 7:00pm, Kyler opened his mission call.  Hawaii, Honolulu!  What an exciting moment. Here are some photos of that night.

Everyone puts their guesses on a map...

Sharing the big moment with Lindsay, who has been such a support and will be greatly missed....

Trying to figure out the area the Honolulu mission covers.  It covers all of Hawaii.

We went with Kyler to the temple on May 10th.  He was able to go with his longtime friend Conner Andersen.  Here are pictures then and now, plus a cute note that I couldn't resist posting.

Here are some pictures of the week before he went into the Missionary Training Center in Provo Utah.

We went to lunch, Mr. Mac (of course we went to Mr. Mac)
and the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

For his last Sunday dinner he wanted Chicken Enchiladas and apple beer!  (Which, as you know, isn't really beer.)

Having already been ordained into the Melchizedek Priesthood office of an Elder, he was given the authority to act as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and given a blessing.  This happens the night before...and then the goodbyes begin.

Getting some good advice from his Uncle Chris, who is the next closest thing he has to a brother while Jakob is serving in Guatemala.  Chris was a missionary in Rio.

One last treat at Leatherby's......

And one last stop to Cafe Rio....

Where we go to say our goodbyes....

Stopping to smell the roses...

I asked how he was feeling.  Thumbs up!  Herding us like cattle into the Missionary Training Center where he will spend roughly two weeks.

 We made it past security...

His host is asking where he will be serving.  You can see the Hawaii Honolulu rolling off his tongue...

Even though they know it will be extremely hard, and inspite of the tough goodbyes, they always look so happy!!!  (This is extremely good for a mother's heart.)

The final wave....
